* Alien Invasion Movies You Cannot Miss

The question of intelligent life has always fascinated the
human species. Depending on your particular opinion, the
thought of other beings out there can be comforting or
terrifying. When it comes to Hollywood’s interpretation of
the matter the latter seems to be the favored response. It’s
not really surprising that Hollywood should choose to see
alien life forms as threatening as this view does make for
great summer blockbusters in high definition. What’s more
exciting than watching a war between worlds, in which
grotesque aliens with their gangly tentacles ravage Earth,
while humans rally, forgetting their differences and bombing
the invaders to kingdom come. Here’s a list of great alien
invasion movies, most of which you can catch on satellite TV
in HD.
Independence Day: Directed by Roland Emmerich, the auteur
behind so many shoot’em up action thrillers and a good
number of blockbusters, this movie turned out to be a huge
hit. In one of the film’s most iconic scenes the White House
gets blown to bits by alien lasers. Will Smith, Jeff
Goldblum and Bill Pullman among others, make up the cast in
this HD mega-blockbuster. Definitely not one to be
missed-this film often airs on satellite TV.
War of the Worlds: The Steven Spielberg remake of the
classic adaptation of HG Well’s alien invasion novel brings
on the special effects. Starring Tom Cruise and a young
Dakota Fanning, this version of War of the World’s is
definitely a spectacle. These ETs definitely aren’t the type
you’d want to cuddle up with. Again, watch this film in HD.
Mars Attacks: This 1996 alien invasion flick sports an all
star cast including Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Natalie
Portman, Sarah Jessica Parker and Pierce Brosnan, among
others. The film is a take on Ed Wood’s Plan 9 from Outer
Space; director Tim Burton upped the camp factor and made
one quirky martian movie.
Starship Troopers: In this movie, directed by Paul
Verhoeven, the space aliens aren’t green big eyed creatures,
but rather giant man eating bugs. They’ve got sharp spider
legs that can chop a torso in two with a quick movement.
These cosmic battles can get pretty gory, especially if
you’re watching in HD.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers: Another remake, this 1976
alien horror flick features pod aliens who have taken over
San Francisco, replacing humans with pod grown clones.
There’s plenty of suspense and thrills in this movie. Even
without the HD, you will be holding your breath in
disbelief.
Signs: M Night Shyamalan is a master at suspense. His 2002
film Signs, is artfully done and the ending will keep you
guessing. This is a great little suspense thriller that will
leave you sitting on the edge of your seat. Although there
aren’t any explosions or much gore, this alien invasion does
make you squirm. You can see this movie on satellite TV.
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension:
This 1984 movie may not be as well known as the rest in this
group, but it is definitely one to watch. Banzai is a sci-fi
action thriller spoof in which scientist and rock star
Buckaroo Banzai has to save the Earth from destruction in an
interplanetary war.
Direct TV deals bring you top notch entertainment. Ditch
cable for Direct TV HD and a crystal-clear picture.
